Using extracts in chocolate desserts

Chocolate desserts are always delicious and never fail to please! Learn how to boost and enhance your chocolate desserts using Cook's Pure Extracts!

Chocolate desserts can benefit from a boost from pure extracts. My favorite chocolate dessert extracts are pure vanilla extract, pure chocolate extract, and pure coffee extract! You can also combine them for heavenly flavors. Chocolate pairs effortlessly with peppermint, spearmint, raspberry, cherry, strawberry, hazelnut, cinnamon and orange extracts!

Let's begin with discussing enhancing chocolate with extracts.

Pure vanilla extract enhances any flavor, but it is particularly wonderful when paired with chocolate. Many chocolate manufacturers use vanilla to flavor their chocolate, so you can boost it by adding some extra vanilla! This is especially true of white chocolate. Fine white chocolate is flavored with pure vanilla extract and lower-quality white chocolate is flavored with imitation vanilla extract. Whatever quality white chocolate you are using, you can always improve the flavor by adding pure vanilla extract.

Next up, is pure chocolate extract. Pure chocolate extract adds a depth of flavor to chocolate desserts without introducing any competing flavors. It is a great way to boost the flavor of cocoa powder used in cakes and cookies and it also is an easy way to deepen the chocolate flavor of milk chocolate without adding any additional bitterness.

Finally, we have pure coffee extract. Many recipes call for instant coffee, espresso powder, or brewed coffee to enhance the flavor of chocolate desserts. Coffee enhances chocolate and brings out deep and bold chocolatey flavors. It is so easy to just add a teaspoon of pure coffee extract to chocolate desserts!

It is also wonderful to combine two of these extracts to add complexity and depth of flavor. I will often use vanilla in combination with chocolate, vanilla with coffee, or coffee with chocolate. You really can't go wrong here.

The raspberry, strawberry, cherry, cinnamon, hazelnut, orange, peppermint, and spearmint extracts are classic flavors to pair with chocolate. Some ideas for these pairings are cheesecakes, brownies, coffee creamers and lattes, ice creams, and fancy pastries!

Here are some of my favorite recipe ideas:
